Mark and I have enjoyed the past few days as the work has slowed down from the hustle and bustle of the summer. I have slept until 7am every morning, and sometimes I muster up the energy to get up for an early morning work out. There is still plenty to get done, that's for sure. I am trying to close down the dorm and prepare for the soon to come rains, and we are already planning for the 2012 season for HHGlobal.
This place is really starting to take shape as God brings the staff and support we need to help us carry though. Brandi Compton, the nurse that has been serving the past 6 months with us, has been invited back to HHGlobal and she has agreed to come for another year! That is incredible news to my ears! I won't have to play nurse anymore, although I secretly like being useful in the exam room.
I am so grateful that God is building our team, with long-term and short-term helpers. We used to think we needed people to commit for long-term service, but now we realize that although we do need a long-term staff, we can also take advantage of the energy, creativity, and support that come with mid- to short-term volunteers. For example, our 2-3 month summer internship and the 6 month mid-term internship are both growing and developing.
I find myself wishing I had more time to devote to a particular area of, like the internship or hospitality, and then remembering that we all have to wear multiple hats to make it work. So, I pray that God would call more people to our team - in His timing. That we would all live and work together like the early church, and that we would bring glory to His name.
On another note, Mark and I are deep into the process of applying for our Honduran Residency. We no longer have to leave the country every 90 days, which is a huge blessing. It is so hard sometimes to drop everything in the middle of a project, or a team just so we can pay an exit tax, lol. BUT now, thank God, we don't have to do that. We just go into La Ceiba and get an extension on our current visa and that's it! I am not sure how much longer it will take until we are proud holders of our Honduran Residency cards, but for now I am just glad to be able to come and go on our terms!
This slower season also allows us to build more relationships with the other missionaries here on the mountain. We are looking forward to having dinner and games with some of them, and getting to know them all a little better.
Well, that's all for now folks. I thought I would catch up with you guys and give you a little update. We love you guys!
