Get Ready, Get Ready, Get Ready

It's that time of year again...the time of year when groups have slowed down at the Jungle Hospital and our staff and volunteers start taking time to visit family and friends back in the Good Ole USA. Mark and I (along with the baby-belly bump) will be taking the month of September to do just that.

When we start putting our heads together, making plans to visit family, contacting our friends and supporters back home, and plotting our driving route on the map...I can't help but remember planning endless road trips when I was in my teens. Travel through the US was always a desire of my heart. I just knew there was untold beauty across state lines and that adventure was waiting for me around every curve in the road. I had the opportunity to drive from LA to Colorado, LA to California and then again from LA to Pennsylvania but that was the extent of my cross country road trip adventures.

When I started really following after God, I laid all those desires aside and said, "You are what I want. I want what You want for my life." And though there have been difficulties, and the road has been bumpier than I would have liked at times, He has proven that life with Him is so much more satisfying than life without Him. And then, He does things like this...He lets me plan a cross-country road trip with the love of my life to go and visit all of our family and friends in the LA-MS-FL-GA-AL-AR-LA circle, =D. WOW!

It blows me away, every time. He remembers those little things, the things that we don't even think about anymore, and He finds ways to give them back to us - sanctified and better than they ever could have been without Him.

We can't wait to hug some necks and catch up over some fried catfish, boiled shrimp, tender beefy steak, hot from the oven cornbread, melt in your mouth ice cream, and whatever good southern cuisine happens to be within grabbing distance for this 7mo pregnant lady!
