Dirt Roads and 4x4

Living in the Third World often conjures up ideas of bumpy dirt roads lined with trash, food poisoning and other gastronomic events, dirty bathrooms where you pay for toilet paper, and traffic so bad you pray for red lights. Although those things are usually true, there is so much more to living in Honduras than the things that make visitors head for the nearest international airport.

For me...it's the people: the little old ladies that walk slowly down the street, the fat babies who cling to their moms (or whomever is holding them), the dirty kids who run around free as the wind, the old men with ears so big you think they wouldn't have hearing problems, the moms and pops who work so hard to provide for their families, and then there are the other missionaries that you work alongside - the ones that become your friends no matter what.

Here, life is what you make it, and Mark and I are trying to make it about Christ. We are trying to reach out to the ones that pull on our hearts. Loving on the snotty nosed kid, and the widow that is barely making it...God said this is true worship. Our supporters are making that possible for us. It is the people back at home that lift us up in prayer, send us financial support so that we can live on the front lines and work the land of Honduras for the Kingdom.
One of the tools that we are seeking God for now, is a 4x4 truck that will help us make it up that bumpy dirt road to the place we call home. We are looking at used vehicles that will be a good investment for our stay in Honduras. In His rich and abundant love God is blessing us. In an environment that is rough on vehicles, and everyone tells you that their truck is in "excellent condition" God is blessing us with reliable service records. In a market where used trucks in good shape are scarce, God is blessing us with choices. And we know...that where He guides, He provides.

The next step for us to take is to call on the Body of Christ to help us purchase this tool and put it to use for His Kingdom. Mark and I are putting down the gifts we received for our wedding as the first seed into this truck fund. We know that God is moving on the hearts of people to give. He is going before us, and preparing the way. If you feel led to help us in this endeavor, please email us at theyoungersglobal@gmail.com.

We are excited to see how God moves, and who He chooses to work through. Are you one of them?
